Mario Tagliani

Mario Tagliani

Mario Tagliani was born in Salaghetto di Bedizzole, near Brescia, in 1951. He taught for around thirty years at the Ferrante Aporti juvenile detention institution in Turin. There he developed personalised pathways from young people’s stories, interests and possibilities, using music, sport, mathematical games, computers and encounters with guests.

He recounts this experience in Il maestro dentro. Trent’anni tra i banchi di un carcere minorile. His testimony stresses knowing each young person, earning trust and restoring the classroom as a place for meaningful experience and imagining a future.
